In 1986, with both nations hosting philatelic exhibitions, the United States and Sweden jointly issued stamps in commemoration of the stamp collecting hobby. This 1986 U.S. Stamp Collecting Strip of 4 was the American contribution to the International event. This year also marked the 100th anniversaries of both the Swedish and American Philatelic Societies.
